AP7 was an early mover in adopting a norm-based model for responsible investment. Our basic principle is that we do not invest in companies that commit serious violations of international conventions signed by Sweden.
In cases where we suspect that an international treaty has been infringed, our first step is to contact the company concerned. We may also establish contact with companies that we have excluded from the portfolio but which have implemented improvements. Lack of clarity over norms and acceptable behaviour may also lead us to initiate contact. However, we never see dialogue as an alternative to exclusion.
We work closely with other investors to apply maximum pressure in such cases.
