AP7 has been appointed to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). The steering group consists of 35 members from around the world representing financial actors and companies from a wide range of sectors. AP7 will be represented by Johan Florén, Head of Communications and ESG, together with Flora Gaber, Head of ESG Analysis.
“Research is clear – natural resources and biodiversity are under clear pressure worldwide. I am convinced that global collaboration is key to finding solutions. Therefore, we are proud to be a member of the TNFD and to contribute to the development of a global standard for reporting and managing nature-related risks. Through measurement and disclosure, both companies and investors gain a clearer understanding of how we should act together in the right direction”, says Richard Gröttheim, CEO of AP7.
Mirroring the work of the climate-focused TCFD, TNFD’s objective is to develop a risk management and disclosure framework for organisations to report and act on nature-related risks. TNFD will focus on how companies are affected by, as well as how they affect, nature and biodiversity in the short and long term. The goal is for the framework to enable clearer action to manage the risks.
A large part of the world’s economic output is highly dependent on nature and biodiversity. Loss of natural resources therefore pose a significant risk to companies and financial stability. Companies as well as investors therefore need better information to assess and manage nature-related risks and opportunities. The aim of TNFD is to support a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes.
